Haven Virtual Academy Logs
Physical Education Logs - Students in kindergarten through 8th, and most high school students, are required to participate in daily physical activities. Parents should keep track of daily minutes and activities each semester on an official P.E. log. The log can be downloaded below. A picture or scan of the log should be emailed to Mrs. Wilt at the end of each semester.

Daily Reading Time

Weekly Keyboarding Time

See specific details below.

Physical Education Log Information

Click HERE to download and print a copy of the school P.E. log. Print it at the beginning of the school year to record times and activities each day during the semester. For those families who rent school laptops, you should find a copy of the log placed in the laptop case for you to use instead. Be sure to review the planned exercise activity section below.

Keep track of your student's physical education time on the log. Record your child's minutes each school day and the total hours for each week in the appropriate areas on the log. At the end of the semester, figure the total hours for the semester and include that information on the form. A clear scan or picture of the log should be submitted to Mrs. Wilt through email at the end of each semester. Please check the Calendar page for specific dates. Please use the same log for the entire school year so at the end of the year all times are recorded on one log.

Time Requirements:

Kindergarten through 8th Students -
Complete a minimum one hour of physical activity each school day or five hours each week. Time spent on the weekend may count toward the five hour total if needed.

High School Students - (This will include most students in 9th through 12th) -
Complete a minimum one hour of physical activity each school day or five hours each week. Time spent on the weekend may count toward the five hour total when needed. Please note any work related activities may not be counted toward physical activity credit as separate planned PE time is required for credit.

Adult Diploma Students (who need a PE Credit)
Complete regular physical activity specifically for your P.E. credit. Work related activities do not count toward P.E. times. Request a Diploma Program PE log from Mrs. Wilt.

Suggested activities include: swimming, running, walking, hiking, biking, sports, Wii Fit,
online workouts, gym workouts, etc. The idea is to be active and complete planned PE activities that keep the heart rate up. Daily activity time is required for credit, but weekend sports activities and exercise time may count toward the weekly total if needed to meet the time requirement. Note: Most jobs do not qualify for PE credit. See more below.

Language Arts/Daily Reading Time
Students are encouraged to read each day for a minimum of 30 minutes. Help your student chose books that interest him or her and encourage a reading time each day. :) Students may also use our online Epic Library for daily reading time during school hours. Let Mrs. Wilt know if your student needs to be set up with an Epic account. At this time a log is not required.

Keyboarding
Students in 3rd through 8th grade are encouraged to complete regular practice each week on keyboarding activities and games. A ten to fifteen minute session each day should be completed by each student. Set a routine so this activity is included in your student's schedule. A log does not need to be submitted, but we do ask parents to set this into their student's routine. High school students who do not already know how to use home row and or who still look at their hands to type are encouraged to practice each day too. Students should begin with the first lesson and work on keyboarding skills throughout the school year. Click HERE to get started with Typing Club. Follow the lessons in order each day.

Keyboarding practice helps develop needed skills. Remember the goal is to learn to place hands on the keyboard and use the correct fingers for each key, learning to look at the screen instead of the keyboard when typing.

Click HERE for additional Keyboarding Games.

Handwriting
Students in 3rd through 8th grade are encouraged to practice printing or cursive writing at least three time each week. Download and print handwriting paper for your student to use. Click HERE for larger spaced handwriting paper and HERE for handwriting paper for cursive practice. Click HERE to download a copy of the alphabet showing how to print each letter. Click HERE to download a copy of the cursive letter guide to help learn the proper way to practice.
