Service Project: Complete the Service Project Assignment Requirement this week. See the instructions and details below. Let Mrs. Wilt know if you have questions.
To help incorporate more kindness and service into our everyday life, we can look for ways to help others through service projects. Doing something for someone else can make a big difference for the giver (you) and the receiver (those you help). Doing something for others allows you to not only connect and give back to your community but the act can also help show you that you can make a difference.
Please use the schedule below.
Friday - Monday (May 12-15)- Develop an idea. Visit with a parent about what you would like to do. Gather supplies and begin working on it.
Tuesday (May 16)- Carry out the service project today if possible.
Wednesday (May 17)- Finish the project. Then evaluate it. Write a short summary about what you did and how it worked out. Include photos of your project. Submit your evaluation/summary report and pictures to Mrs. Wilt via email or Skype. If you have siblings, you may choose to work on the same service project, but you should write your own paper to turn in to the teacher.
Thursday (May 18)- If you did not get your summary and pictures to Mrs. Wilt on Wednesday, please send them to her before 10 am today.

Begin by brainstorming things you could personally do to help someone. Choose from the list of ideas below or think of other ways you could provide service to someone. Some of the suggestions are for older students, but most ideas could be adapted to work for any age. Please check with your parents for their approval on the service you choose. If you have siblings at HVA, you may work together to complete the project.
Use the worksheet to share more about your ideas, plan, and how you prepared for the service project. Then evaluate it on the last page.
Complete the worksheet by adding notes to each area on page one. Include notes about your ideas, plans, supplies, etc. Then on page two, write a paragraph explaining how you will complete you service project plan. After you have completed the project and filled out the plan for it, you will need to complete the evaluation at the end of the worksheet. Evaluate the success of your project in the last section by writing a short summary paragraph. See the notes below to help you complete the worksheet. You will also need to include at least one picture to show what you did for your project.
The completed worksheet and picture(s) should be sent to Mrs. Wilt on Wednesday.
Use these questions to help you share about your plan and explain it.
After you complete your project, evaluation it. The evaluation should include a summary of how things turned out. For example, explain how it make you feel to help someone else in this way and how you think it made the receivers feel. Think about the look on their faces, the words they spoke, and how they acted at the time. Review the questions below to help you summarize the details in the evaluation section.
