Language Arts/Daily Reading Time
Students are encouraged to read each day for a minimum of 30 minutes. Help your student chose books that interest him or her and encourage a reading time each day. :) Students may also use our online Epic Library for daily reading time during school hours. Let Mrs. Wilt know if your student needs to be set up with an Epic account. At this time a log is not required but it can be helpful for setting and reaching goals.

Keyboarding
Students in 3rd through 8th grade are encouraged to complete regular practice each week on keyboarding activities and games. A ten to fifteen-minute session at least three times a week should be completed by each student. Set a routine so this activity is included in your student's schedule. A log does not need to be submitted, but we do ask parents to make this part of the school routine. High school students who do not already know how to use home row or who still look at their hands to type are encouraged to practice each day too. Students should begin with the first lesson and work on keyboarding skills throughout the school year. Click HERE to get started with Typing Club. Students should follow the lessons to help improve their keyboarding skills.
Keyboarding practice helps develop needed skills. Remember, the goal is to learn to place hands on the keyboard properly and use the correct fingers for each key, learning to look at the screen instead of the keyboard when typing.
